2019 – October 31st

This is it! The 20th anniversary of NaNoWriMo, and the final year for the NaNoToons!

If you haven’t heard, yes, I’m retiring from NaNoToons this year. It’s been a long time. I don’t even know how many years I’ve been doing this, but these little characters have been around for so long! Kari Maaren is helping again with editing, which is great because she keeps finding so many mistakes. You can check out her webomic about time travel!

I do hope to write this year too. We’ll see how that goes. Heh.

I’m so pumped this year, I even feel I may write a parody song again. Those were fun. I created so many silly NaNoWriMo things.

In a sense, all I do is write Nano fanfic.

Anyway, thanks for joining me again for one last time, and good luck with writing!

  1. I’m so happy to see NaNoToons back, although it’ll be bittersweet to read for the last time.

Thank you for so many years of fun! (And you so should gather up the series and offer it as a book – I’d snap that up in a heartbeat!)

  2. Oh noes!
Errol thank you for Nanotoons all these years, they have been my favourite part of November, whether I was writing or not.
Have an excellent Nano, keep smiling and hope to see more of your stuff soon xXx

  3. It has been prophesied since time immemorial, that if the force known as Tala and the being known as Rob were to ever come together, the fabric of spacetime would tear, the universe would bend in on itself, and a new reality would be unleashed that would cause the heavens to shake and the people to weep. I hope you know what you’re doing because this could prove disastrous.

  4. Aw, I look so forward to the comics every year, what will I do without them??

I’m sorry to year this is the last one, but hopefully you have got other good things coming.
Thank you for creating my favorite comic series up until now 🙂

I have no words…even the possibility of a new parody song…

    (it’s about time)

Oh, apparently I do have words.

    1. That was my first reaction too, but as an adult (in theory) I have to say “Thank you, Errol for giving us all of these wonderful years. NaNo Toons have been a staple of my NaNo existence, and I’ve enjoyed every comic. You’ve given us all a gift, and you deserve to move on to other things.”

  6. Sad to know this will be the final year! Reading each day’s new comic has been an integral part of the NaNo experience for me since I started participating in 2011. Thanks for the laughs!!

  7. Sorry to hear this is the final series, but I’ve loved these comics since my first NaNo back in high school, and I read them even during college when I couldn’t NaNo at all. Now that I’m doing it again, last year and this year, the comics helped bring back the nostalgia and the excitement and the hysterics of those first NaNos, and I can’t thank you enough for all the time and effort and hilarity you’ve put into these characters and these strips. They’re an integral part of NaNo canon now, along with your musical. Thank you so much, and NaNoToons will be missed.

    1. You’re welcome, and thank you so much for your kind words! I’m always happy if people enjoy the comics, and I’m glad when it encourages people during NaNo! It’s always a treat to find people who have been with them since the beginning. 😀

  8. Errol, NaNoToons have brought great joy to my Novembers since—I *think*—2006. They’ve propped up my word count and prevented procrastination more times than I’ve typed “send in the plot clowns.” (No daily word count—>no reading the day’s strip). Sometimes I’ve begged friends to do a NaNoWriMo just so I can tell them to watch the musical. Thank you, thank you, thank you! May all your exuberant endeavors end well (or, alternatively, continue well. :)) . And if you ever do a compilation of NaNoToons (or for that matter, write/draw/publish something else) please add me to the incredibly long list of people who will gladly buy your book.
