2015 – November 10th

NaNoToons_2015_11_10
Huzzah! You know what excites me? I have a buffer of NaNoToons set up, I’m ahead on my wordcount, and I reached 300 comics on my other webcomic!
In celebration of that, this can be an AMA (Ask Me Anything) post! Of course, we’re all too busy writing novels to worry about things like what my favourite colour is, but hey, go for it.
I think my favourite colour is blue, btw.

    1. Thank you! I’ve been doing webcomics for almost four or so years! ^_^ It may be longer because I would start and stop some, but I’ve been doing them consistently on a daily basis since…2012? I think that’s right. 😀

  1. Huzzah! Congrats on being ahead and caught up.
Anything, huh? Well, how about, what’s your novel about? (I personally hate that question, so feel free not to answer).

      1. Puzzle-powered magic sounds interesting! I don’t remember reading anything like that before but it sounds like it would be fun. I want to read the book now just to find out more about that magic system!
I love fantasy and reading about different magic systems and I keep being distracted from writing my own novel by doing logic puzzles.

        1. *laugh* Well, it’s so far very hastily written, and I haven’t figured out everything in regards to the system of magic yet. I’m probably going to change the system. Who knows!
However, I love puzzles and escape rooms so I need to put that in my novel somehow! ^_^
And if all goes well, and I finish the book properly, and if you ever end up doing my puzzle hunts, you may have to read the book. 😉

  2. Ever considered having a NaNoToons character who does NaNoWriMo by hand? I personally do all of my writing by hand, and then type it up at the end of the day for an accurate word count. (That said, this is my fifth year, and I’ve only won twice.) Might be fun to see a random notebook and pen among the laptops sometimes.

      1. Hey, your character can be anything you want your character to be. 😉 Complaints about writer’s cramp would certainly make sense, though. Did you know that writer’s cramp does not just apply to your hand? It can manifest in the entire arm and shoulder. That was definitely a surprise my first year. It’s gotten gradually better since then.
Also, there are few things as aggravating as running out of ink in the middle of a word war…

          1. Typing people. In my region, word wars aren’t one-on-one; they’re everyone vs. everyone. And I’m pretty much the only one crazy enough to hand write. But they usually give me a “handicap” and double my word count for word wars, which used to feel like cheating… until the one write in when I brought my computer, and I realized how much of a difference it made.
Even without the “handicap,” I still sometimes beat people who are typing. I try not to make a big deal out of it for their sake, but inside I’m laughing.
Of course, my word count for word wars is always an “ish.” Rather than counting every individual word, I count how many lines I’ve filled. I average nine words per line.

          2. My problem with handwriting would be distraction. While waiting for my hand to catch up with my thought I’d probably start thinking about eggs and then there goes the whole thing.
Ever think of using shorthand or something?

    1. Wow. That’s a difficult question.

I read both as a teenager.
I’ll go with Batman, even though I enjoy Marvel more. I always liked the Detective aspect of Batman, even though there wasn’t much detecting.
I do like Spider-Man, but there was a whole time back in the day after Secret Wars where he complained a lot about his black suit and that got annoying. ^_^

      1. Oh my gosh, yes! I’ve pretty much deleted Secret Wars from my memory because it’s just not worth admitting that it exists.

      1. Actually, it was usually deep philosophical stuff. It’s the main thing that kept me going during November when I wanted to give up, so you can understand why I miss it so much.

          1. Well I mean really, what do you think you put on them? I suppose it could be defined as the “same nonsense,” but that doesn’t mean I don’t still miss them being there!

    1. Hmmm, I think I learn things better visually.
However, when I hear a book, I rarely visualize it.
I am horrendous at describing things visually in words.
But I love dialogue. Most of my writing is all dialogue.
That’s an interesting question, I … don’t know now if I understand what you mean by visual person. I mean, I thought I did, but upon reflection, i don’t know…
